Welcome to everthingneo.com
The Neapolitan Mastiff, Neopolitan Mastiff, Neo, Italian Mastiff,
Mastino Napoletano
whatever name or spelling - it is the one and only true dog
Oh my, they are cute !

Cuteness aside, bringing a new Neapolitan Mastiff puppy into your life is a very serious decision.

Before you purchase a Neapolitan, please research the breed

Here are some quick Neo facts to consider before you get a Neapolitan
if these freak you out - then perhaps you should consider a different breed

Neapolitans Drool
- their mouth is almost always wet -
- it will saturate your clothes -
- you will need drool towels everywhere -
Alot of Neos enjoy chewing
- fine wood furniture -
- leather shoes -
- the siding off a garage -
Neos = big money out of your pocket
- large dogs pay higher boarding costs -
- giant breeds pay more at the groomer -
- big dogs need more medication, higher dosages = more money -
Some Neos don't play well with others
- male Neos tend to not tolerate other male dogs -
- Mastini don't enjoy jogging -
- Mastini don't play fetch for long, if at all -

Ok, so your still here ?
Despite the above tendencies, the Neapolitan is the most
unique, loyal, loving, mysterious, ancient, tenacious guardian, tender, loving
creature you could ever be fortunate enough to own.
This cute little newborn will be 150 to 180 pounds someday

If you decide to travel with your full grown mastino expect to pay
more for his ticket than yours !

Average price for a Neapolitan in the U.S. is $2000

Common price range $1500 to $3000
Well, if that didn't scare you off - the Neapolitan Mastiff may be the breed for you.
The Neo is not as common as the golden retriever, however there are alot of Neo
breeders.  There are even Neapolitans in pet stores occasionally, in the pound and
in the backyard of many new "breeders".  The very best recommendation I can give
you is to research the breed, talk to many breeders and under no circumstances buy from a pet store.

Good breeders just don't sell to pet stores period.
Only puppy mills sell to pet stores

Expect to wait for a puppy, take your time and find just the right one for your family.
Find a breeder you can talk to, maintain a 8-10 year relationship with.

Before you get your puppy, you should have the following done:

** Read a book on the Neapolitan Mastiff - see the library

** Looked at the official standard of the breed - see photo standard

**Decided \ Researched what you will feed your Neapolitan - see Feeding your Mastini

** Puppy proofed your house, fenced your yard

** Begin researching\buying puppy supplies

** Find a puppy preschool or dog training class

** Begin searching for a Vet - see

When you've done that - then finding a breeder to work with....

our breeder listing

Things to ask a breeder -
**How long have you had mastini ?
**How long have you bred mastini?
**How many litters a year do you have?
**What other breeds do you breed ?
**Do you show or have you shown your Neapolitans?

Expect that breeder to ask you many questions as well.

Unfortunately, there are a quite a few shady characters out there selling Neapolitans (and other breeds)
but here are a  few red flags to watch out for:

"I sell the rare and expensive tawny color, red color, silver color, etc...."
The Neo comes in four colors: grey (blue), black, tawny, mahogany nothing rare about any of them.

"My puppies are dual registered or with some registry other than AKC"
The Neapolitan is registered with the AKC , don't fall for a line of crap about other registries, there is NO other legitimate registry in the United States.

Check out the AKC banned breeder listing if you are concerned

Basically, the more informed you are - the less likely you will be scammed !
